BARTLETT RECREATION
DEPARTMENT
2007
ANNUAL REPORT
The year
2007 brought lots
of great programs and events to the community. We
began the year with planning the Annual Bartlett
Recreation Department
Golf Tournament.
What a successful event it was, one of the best golf
tournaments the area has to offer.
A full slate of programs
and events were held throughout the year. First time
events, for our department were;
Touch the Trucks,
Easter Egg Hunt and the Fall Harvest Festival, all
family and community oriented events. A trip to the
Boston Flower Show was a popular one as well, which
included the ticket to the show, coach transportation,
bottled water, a homemade snack, games and prizes, and
lots of laughs.
BEAR Summer Program
went under some changes this year, with the addition of
swimming lessons and tennis lessons. Our department grew
during this time with three adult counselors and three
students on hand to handle the many structured
activities and games that were planned to the themed
weeks. Mondays was swimming and lessons at
White Lake State Park. Tuesdays and Thursdays were at the school
with tons of activities planned. Wednesdays we boarded
the bus at noon for our second day of swimming. Every
Thursday each child enjoyed a free ice cream cone and
Fridays we were on the bus to our
weekly scheduled
field trip, in which some were of no charge. The
last day of camp was spent at
White
Lake with a cookout for
family and campers, each camper received a personalized
certificate and a backpack. We were full nearly the
entire summer and many weeks had a waiting list. The
recreation department offered a variety of ways in which
to pay for the program this year. One was to pay in
advance and receive your last week of camp free, tiered
pricing for more than one sibling, etc.
We have added several new
ongoing programs to the many we already offer. New this
fall, ceramic
classes are offered the first and third Tuesday of
each month at the JBES.
Aikido
continues to be popular for the children and this year
we added an adult program as well.
Tae Kwon Do began at the end of the year for all ages as well. Many
community members have enjoyed the
Yoga program.
We are now on the web,
www.bartlettnh.org. This will prove to be a valuable asset
for all community members. Important information can be
obtained at the site, including our monthly newsletter,
The Bartlett
Recorder, sports registration forms,
schedules for sports, Jr. Nordic Ski form, and adult
education information, ongoing program information,
festivities schedules, etc. Information changes
frequently, so make sure you bookmark it!
Our
football program
saw the addition of a new team. Madison
brought two teams and played our Jr. Division several
times. We look forward to playing them again next year
as well as the possible addition of another town.
I look forward to 2008!
The entire community is welcome at any time to come by
my office with comments, concerns, or suggestions. If
you have time to give and would like to volunteer for
the many events and programs, we look forward to seeing
you as well.
Respectfully submitted,
ANNETTE G. LIBBY,
Director

ANNUAL
REPORT 2006
Let us begin with what to expect in the
year 2007. In two words, GREAT THINGS! New things to look forward to are
more community activities. The department has a great sports program,
however, it has been mentioned that we need to improve in what we offer
the community as a whole. Trips for adults are being looked into, as
well as having game nights and dances. If you have suggestions or would
like to volunteer to help out in any way, please feel free to call the
recreation department at any time.
I have resurrected The Bartlett Recorder,
a newsletter that will be printed each month with all the happenings,
calendar of games or events. A copy is being sent home with each child
attending Bartlett and Jackson schools, as well as copies being made
available at the post office and area stores. It will prove to be a
valuable source of information on what the recreation department is
doing.
I look forward to serving the Town of
Bartlett. I welcome you to stop by with any concerns or comments that
you might have.
